This September, Gen Z youth led brave protests against corruption and authoritarianism in Nepal, an unprecedented movement in a place where youth voices have long been silenced. While many of their immediate demands were met, the cost was devastating: 72 lives lost, over 2,000 were injured, and Nepal now faces a long process of reconstruction and healing.
As our Nepali team holds the grief and possibility of this moment, they continue supporting youth and survivors to uplift one another, honoring loss and pain alongside celebration and hope for a more liberated future.
Just a week after the protests, our work carried on, fueled by the energy, creativity, and courage of young people imagining a healing-centered future.
We remain steadfast in our commitment to foster trauma-informed, healing-centered schools and communities, empowering young people to build and lead systems rooted in dignity, belonging, and collective care.
Learn more about the Gen Z movement and its impact in our HT Nepal podcast episode, with guest, Dr. Lemny Perez - our former Global Healing Director, who witnessed the protests outside her window during a recent art residency in Kathmandu.
