Building a Health Clinic Update

The roof is being readied

We are so excited to report on our health clinic in El Rodieto. Your contribution is an important part of the progress, and we are delighted to share what is currently happening.

The clinic is designed as a one stop shop for dental care, primary healthcare, and healthcare services for mothers and children. There will be no cost to the community for these services. In order to provide those services, we need to connect to the electricity line in town. The structure is taking shape and should be complete within a few months. We do hope that a health brigade from Cape Cares will visit during the upcoming Fall and be able to make use of the structure.

Progress on the Health Clinic

We have good news to report. We are making so much progress. We couldn't do it without your help, so we are thrilled to be able to make this report and update you.

We have made substantial progress on walls, doors, windows and hallways. The team started work on the roof for the 2nd half of the clinic and is moving into the plastering and polishing of it. Additionally, the internal divisions i.e. walls, doors, and windows can now be more easily measured as the team works on the plastering and polishing of the walls for the first half of the clinic which has been our key priority until now. The team is now starting to dig the trenches for the electrical cabling as well as plumbing, and 3 light posts have been purchased and delivery is scheduled to El Rodeito.

We have big plans as well! We need your continued support. Her are our construction next steps. The upcoming task of finishing (smoothing/prepping for paint) the exterior walls in the clinic is beginning. We are also finishing (smoothing/prepping for paint) interior walls of clinic, a special adhesive is used in this phase of construction to improve cement bonding to the walls and ceilings. More finishing (smoothing) is planned for the roof on the 2nd half of construction. Finally we are approaching the time for installation of the main electrical feed from the main road to the clinic building – this involves feeding main electrical cables from the street, installing the electrical poles, and bringing the main electrical cables underneath the construction.We alos hope to soon be ready for the bathroom installation and ceramic flooring on bathrooms.

As you can see, we have made substantial progress and will continue to build this important clinic. We thank you for your past support, and we thank you in advance for your future support!
