We’re pleased to share another encouraging update from Kiruru village following our recent visit to Tanzania. The determination and unity of this community continue to inspire us, and it’s wonderful to see how much momentum the project has gained.
As you know, the primary school has already surpassed our original expectations, now serving over 200 children. What began as an ambitious goal has become a thriving local centre of learning. For many families, having access to education within the village has made an enormous difference — reducing long daily journeys and making schooling safer and more accessible.
Importantly, progress has not stopped. The community has continued building to ensure that more children can complete their primary education locally. Additional classroom space is under construction, with new foundations laid to support further expansion. Each new step brings the school closer to being able to serve all year groups within the village itself.
Sanitation facilities have also been improved. A new latrine block has recently been completed, and further facilities are underway to ensure the growing number of pupils have access to safe and appropriate amenities. These developments represent an important part of creating a healthy and supportive learning environment.
Work is also progressing on accommodation for teachers. While not yet complete, construction is moving forward steadily. Providing housing will help attract and retain committed educators, strengthening the long-term stability of the school.
Alongside the infrastructure developments, teachers and pupils continue to invest in their surroundings — planting trees and nurturing the school grounds, helping to create a welcoming and sustainable environment for learning.
All of this progress has been made possible through your continued encouragement and generosity. The community’s commitment, combined with your support, is turning long-term aspirations into lasting reality.
As always, thank you for standing with Kiruru. We look forward to sharing further updates as the next stages take shape.
