I Am Maemo: A Qualified Female Guide

We are absolutely thrilled to share wonderful news from our Female Guides Program in Botswana! A huge congratulations to Maemo Mumsy Ledimo for successfully completing the rigorous two-year program. We're incredibly proud to announce that Maemo is now employed as an Assistant Nature Host!  Thank you for helping us train and develop the next generation of talented female guides, opening doors and creating empowering career paths in a field where women are making an increasingly vital impact.

A thank you letter from Maemo

“I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to have been part of the African Bush Camps Foundation as a trainee guide with the initiative to empower women in this male-dominated field.  I appreciate the trust and confidence you had placed in me for the duration of my stay, and I am excited to have contributed to the foundation's mission and success.

Thank you for your support and guidance, which I have immensely received from the foundation and my fellow guiding team. Their teachings will be treasured and will be used as a reference in the future. I would also like to applaud the foundation for their great work ethic, and your efforts are highly  noticeable and fulfilling.”

Three women will soon join our Female Guides Program, embarking on a journey to gain valuable training, hands-on guiding experience, and the qualifications needed to become licensed guides. This opportunity not only empowers them personally but also helps break barriers in a traditionally male-dominated field.

A Community Garden For Ditsiping Village

We are launching a community garden that will grow fresh vegetables to nourish families, reduce hunger, and create new income opportunities. Beyond providing food, the garden will serve as a vital educational hub, teaching sustainable farming practices that enable the community to thrive and build lasting resilience.

The garden will be divided as follows:

  • 40% Commercial: Fresh produce will be sold to generate income. This income will be used to pay the salaries of the farm manager and assistants, and to purchase seedlings for ongoing planting.
  • 60% Subsistence: Produce will be distributed to community members as food relief.

Partner with us to train the next aspiring female guides in 2025.
