Kumekucha Quest Progress Report Summary (October 2025)
The Movement Kumekucha Quest is a healing-centered, community-led social movement launched by the Green String Network in Kenya in 2021. It adapts GSN's peacebuilding approach for young people aged 10-24 across three age-based programs: Kumekucha Quest (18-24), Kumekucha Vijana (13-17), and Kumekucha Watoto (10-12).
What's Working Over 4.5 years, the movement has reached impressive scale: 3 counties, 4 partners, 150 facilitators, 1,120 direct circle participants, and 10,798 indirect beneficiaries. The evidence is compelling with measurable outcomes including 68% improvement in overall wellbeing, 58% decrease in post-traumatic stress, and 100% increase in trauma and mental health knowledge.
Recent Progress KQ completed its Transition to Scale 1 (TTS1) period with significant achievements: expanded to two new Nairobi locations, hosted 22 community campaigns along the Kenyan coast, and reached over 2,200 direct and indirect beneficiaries.
Visibility & Momentum The team has dramatically increased their profile through 9+ international conferences and partnerships (UN Civil Society Conference, Africa Global Mental Health Institute, Charles R. Drew University, and more), positioning KQ as a model for healing-centered interventions globally.
Next Steps GSN has developed a bold, data-driven 5-year scaling plan and is currently seeking funding to expand this proven model to new areas and populations.
The Ask Donations support reaching more young Kenyans with wellbeing support and accelerating Kenya's mental health transformation through community-led, culturally responsive healing.
