Autism is a neurodevelopmental and learning disability that affects communication, behavior, and social interaction. In Pakistan, children with autism often remain undiagnosed, misunderstood, or excluded from mainstream education due to lack of awareness and limited access to specialized services.
Regular and structured therapies—such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, behavior therapy, and remedial education—are essential for children with autism to develop functional skills and successfully integrate into school and community life. Through GlobalGiving crowdfunding support, NDF Pakistan launched this project to promote therapy-based intervention and mainstreaming for children with autism.
Activities Implemented During Reporting Period
During the reporting period, NDF Pakistan carried out the following activities:
Identification and assessment of children with autism
Development of individualized therapy plans
Provision of regular speech, occupational, and behavior therapy sessions
Remedial education support for learning skills
Parental counseling and caregiver guidance
Coordination with schools for inclusive education practices
Progress & Achievements
300 children with autism receiving regular therapies
500 therapy sessions conducted
Improved communication and language skills
Better attention span and learning readiness
Increased caregiver understanding and involvement
Children who previously struggled with basic interaction showed measurable progress with consistent
