Hey everyone, Ty here!
When we talk about displacement, our minds usually jump to the frontlines. But there’s a whole other story unfolding right here in the UK that doesn't get nearly enough airtime. We’re seeing so many young people arriving after being displaced by the conflict, and sadly, they are often falling straight through the cracks of a system they don't yet understand.
The mission: A soft landing We’ve decided to shift our focus to where the need is loudest. We’ve partnered with some incredible women from Ukraine—people who have been through the fire themselves and now want to give back—to launch a new mentorship and support network for these young arrivals.
We aren't here to do the heavy political lifting; we’re here to be the "boots on the ground" for the kids who just need a human being to help them navigate the chaos.
What we’re actually doing:
Finding a "Home Base": Giving these young people a safe, welcoming space to meet others who are going through the same thing.
Cutting through the red tape: Helping them navigate the mountain of paperwork and confusing systems in a language that’s still new to many of them.
Finding their feet: For those who want to jump into the workforce, we’re helping them find opportunities to contribute. For those just passing through to reunite with family, we’re the bridge that connects them to the right charities and authorities to get them there safely.
There are lots of charities doing great work, but very few are focused on this specific age group when they first land. We’re here to make sure they aren't alone.
Keeping our focus clear I want to remind you that Action Change is—and always will be—a strictly non-political, non-religious charity. We don't comment on the unrest or the politics. We focus on one thing: supporting people and keeping them safe. That’s it.
Little by Little: The Power Play! We have a huge opportunity to keep this support flowing during the Little by Little campaign from March 17th – 20th. GlobalGiving is doing their magic and 50% matching all donations up to $50, while matching funds remain.
A $50 donation from you becomes $75.
That extra $25 is the difference between a kid feeling lost in a new city and having a mentor who can guide them through it.
These matching funds disappear super fast, so please save the date and jump in on the 17th. Your support helps us be the bridge these young people need to find their way again.
Stay awesome,
Ty Bennett
