To our supporters,
Over the past five years, our initiative has been dedicated to raising awareness about plastic pollution, funding cleanup efforts, and conducting research to preserve the health of our oceans and marine life. With a total goal of £3,849, we are pleased to report that only £810 remains, thanks to the generous contributions of 31 donors and the support of one fundraiser. This report outlines our achievements, challenges, and future plans as we continue our mission to protect our oceans.
Achievements
1. Community Engagement and Education - Workshops and Seminars: We have conducted over 120 workshops in coastal communities worldwide, educating more than 15,000 individuals on the impacts of plastic pollution and sustainable waste management practices.School Programs: Collaborating with 50 schools, we have integrated environmental education into curricula, fostering a new generation of ocean stewards.
2. Cleanup Initiatives - Beach Cleanups: Organized 200 beach cleanup events, resulting in the removal of approximately 50 tons of plastic waste from shorelines.Dive Expeditions: Partnered with local diving communities to conduct 80 underwater cleanup missions, clearing coral reefs and marine habitats of debris.
3. Research and Data Collection - Plastic Waste Analysis: Conducted studies to identify the most common types of plastic pollutants, informing targeted reduction strategies.Microplastics Monitoring: Initiated a program to monitor microplastics in local water sources, contributing valuable data to global research efforts.
Future Plans
Expansion of Educational Programs: We aim to reach an additional 20,000 individuals through workshops and school programs in the next two years.Advocacy for Policy Change: Strengthen collaborations with local governments to develop and implement policies that reduce plastic production and improve waste management infrastructure.Innovative Cleanup Technologies: Invest in research and development of technologies that can more efficiently remove plastic waste from oceans and rivers.
Our collective efforts over the past five years have made a tangible impact on reducing plastic pollution and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility. However, the challenges ahead require sustained commitment and innovative solutions. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all donors, volunteers, and partners who have supported this cause and invite others to join us in safeguarding the future of our oceans.
Thank you !
