Can you imagine not seeing the chalkboard

By Tyrone Bennett | CEO of Action Change

Hey everyone, Ty here!

We’ve all had those days where things just feel a bit blurry or out of reach. But imagine if that was your every single day at school. Imagine trying to learn your ABCs when you can't hear the teacher, or struggling to read a book because the words are just a fuzzy grey smear on the page.

That is the reality for so many children we meet. They aren't "naughty" or "struggling students"—they are kids who just need a little bit of help to see the world clearly and hear the lessons that could change their lives.

What we’ve been doing (and why it’s awesome!) Since our last update, we’ve been on a mission to turn the lights on for these kids. Thanks to you, we’ve been able to get glasses and hearing aids into the hands (and onto the faces!) of children who were literally sitting in the back of the classroom, totally tuned out because they just couldn't keep up.

There is nothing—and I mean nothing—like seeing a kid put on a pair of glasses for the first time and seeing that "Aha!" moment when the whole world snaps into focus. It’s like watching their confidence explode. They go from being the kid hiding in the back to the one raising their hand, asking questions, and actually having a laugh with their mates.

The goal: No more "fuzzy" futures We’ve got a long list of kids waiting for their turn. We don't just want to hand out gear; we want to make sure every child gets the follow-up care they need, from check-ups to adjustments. We want these kids to walk out of school feeling like they can take on anything.

Little by Little: The Power Play! We have a massive chance to clear the fog for even more kids during the Little by Little campaign from March 17th – 20th. GlobalGiving is stepping up and 50% matching all donations up to $50, while matching funds remain.

  • A $50 donation from you turns into $75 for us.

  • That extra $25 is the difference between a child seeing the chalkboard or missing the lesson entirely.

These matching funds disappear super fast, so please save the date and jump in on the 17th. Let’s make sure every kid in our program has a front-row seat to their own future.

Thank you for helping us make the world a little clearer, one pair of glasses at a time!

Stay awesome,
