Join our community and be part of the solution!
By Martine Jean-Baptiste | Founder, Executive Director

This year, we at FAHM are so thrilled to be celebrating our 10th ANNIVERSARY!!
Over the last 10 years we have built a solid foundation and partnerships in which Haiti's midwives lead the way in identifying their immediate and long term goals. Haiti’s midwives keep going strong and so does FAHM. Despite challenges, life goes on and there is always a basic human need for quality healthcare. We continue to actively run our programs. Our key impact areas are education, leadership, promotion of the profession and community education and outreach. The midwifery model of care centers trauma informed care and your support enables Haiti’s midwives to continue to fight to end gender-based violence.
Your donation provides essential education and leadership training to Haiti’s midwives and midwifery students as they continue to offer accessible and equitable care throughout Haiti.
Join our community and be part of the solution!
Now, more than ever, is the time to stand with Haiti's midwives for a stronger Haiti! (Kore Saj Fanm Ayisyen pou Ayiti pi djanm!)

UNITE and INVEST to prevent violence against women
By Martine Jean-Baptiste | Founder, Executive Director

FAHM invests in supporting Haiti’s midwives and student midwives in providing them the education, skills and resources needed so they can effectively make a huge difference in the lives of the communities they serve.Thirty-nine (39) 3rd-year students attended an intensive 5-day training. Pre-test scores reflected a very low/basic knowledge while post-test scores showed a tremendous increase in knowledge with a 100% passing rate (average score of 90%)!!
View this short clip (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uo47uOoROyA) showcasing our collective work of how we UNITE and INVEST in GBV prevention and care. There is still so much work to be done. Let’s continue to UNITE and INVEST to prevent violence against women and girls. Safety is a basic human right!
“Midwives are the gateway to reproductive health services. Being on the front line, especially in remote areas, they will be called upon to welcome and take care of victims of sexual violence. Training them seemed essential to us in order to ensure that wherever they are deployed, victims are well received and that the care is of high quality. The training was a success, as evidenced by the post-test scores. With the situation in the country being what it is, we would like to thank FAHM for financing the training workshops, the dean of the Faculty of Midwives for having requested it, and also the students for their enthusiasm in learning new data essential for optimal care of the survivor.”-- Dr Joseph Vilaime Alexis, Obstetrician-Gynecologist: Assistant Department Head, Academic Manager and Professor/Senior Trainer
Please continue to help spread the word about our work by sharing our project with your friends and family. Help us continue to grow our community of supporters like you. If you’re willing to share the story of our work with your network, we’d be incredibly grateful.

Haitian midwives are committed and dedicated to becoming part of the solution to end gender-based violence (GBV). Midwives are key points of access to health care for GBV survivors. They also serve as advocates for women and girls, contribute greatly to prevention efforts, and are community educators. FAHM is delighted to partner with them in the fight against GBV in Haiti.
