turn these "classrooms" into a real school

Hey everyone, Ty here!

I’m reaching out today with a mission that is close to my heart. When I first visited our school in Ghana, I didn't see a "school" in the way we usually think of one. I saw a brick shed with holes for windows, no furniture, and just a single dusty blackboard.

Yet, there were 20 kids sitting on the floor every single day, desperate to learn, even though a teacher rarely made it to them. That image has never left me. I sat with them heard their stories and I ended up dusting off my teaching skills from years ago and we had a really great day of lessons together.

Where we are right now We aren't just sitting by. We’ve been working with the community to get teacher training programs up and running, turning local adults into the educators those kids deserve. We’ve already seen some amazing wins including our "Coast-to-Coast" bike challenge where we rode 25km and did three beach cleanups along the way. That ride, combined with your incredible $1,177 in donations, has kept the doors open so far.

But we need to do more. We’ve reached the point where we need to buy desks, chairs, and proper teaching tools so that when our trained teachers arrive, they have the environment to actually teach.

The Plan To be totally transparent: Ghana has been a tough one to fundraise for, and we’re at a crossroads. We’ve committed to another 6 months to make this work, and I’m personally heading out there to roll up my sleeves with the team and the community. I’m determined to find a way to get these kids the education they’re fighting for.

From Chalkboards to Confidence

Education isn’t just about textbooks and exams. It’s about dignity, opportunity, and the belief that every child—no matter their background—deserves the chance to thrive. And thanks to your support, that belief is becoming reality for more children in Ghana.

This past quarter, your donations have continued to support our partner schools and community centres across under-resourced areas. Many of the children we serve come from homes where basic resources are stretched thin. For them, access to school supplies, clean uniforms, and a daily meal at school can be life-changing—and you’ve made that possible.

We recently delivered new sets of learning materials to students in two rural schools. For some children, this was the first time they had their own exercise book, pencil, and storybook to take home. The pride on their faces said everything.

Beyond materials, we’ve also been able to support teacher training sessions—helping build skills in child-centred learning, classroom management, and emotional support. When a teacher is empowered, every child in their class benefits. One teacher shared, “I’ve seen my students grow not just academically, but in confidence. They now ask questions, they help one another, and they believe they can succeed.”

That belief is powerful. For a child who may be the first in their family to attend school, it means everything.

We’re also seeing progress beyond the classroom. Several students supported through this project are now entering secondary school—and one, Grace, recently placed among the top five in her district’s English assessment. Her mother told us, “I never thought my daughter would go this far. Thank you for not forgetting our children.”

None of this would be possible without your support.

Looking ahead, we’re excited about expanding access to more students through school partnerships, outreach work, and continued investment in both learning and well-being. We know the journey is long—but with you walking alongside us, the path is full of possibility.
