India faces a serious hunger crisis despite its economic growth.

Although the country has made progress in addressing some aspects of hunger, challenges remain in ensuring food security and access to nutritious food for all. 

Hunger and poverty in children are a global crisis with devastating effects on a child's health, development, and future. Children experiencing food poverty lack access to nutritious diets, leading to severe consequences like stunted growth, increased disease risk, cognitive impairment, and higher mortality rates.

El Shaddai charitable trust has been constantly striving towards aiding all children and individuals by providing nutritious food and ensuring that the children do not suffer from malnutrition.

El Shaddai provides midday meals to the children at the homes, the schools, on the streets, in the slums and all the underprivileged communities in Goa. Many children and their Families struggle with chronic hunger and malnutrition consistently go without the nutrients their minds and bodies need, which then prevents them from being able to perform their best at work, school, or to improve their lives.

Greetings from El Shaddai Charitable Trust. We bring to you our latest report on “Food Relief service – End Hunger by feeding a child”.

 In India, poverty and hunger remain pervasive problems affecting millions of people. India has one of the highest rates of child malnutrition in the world.

El Shaddai provides free food to the underprivileged children and communities to eradicate hunger, feed the hungry, reduce malnutrition, and ensure that no child goes to sleep on an empty stomach.

Every day we have our mid-day meal program where we distribute hot, nutritious and fresh food to poor, needy & hungry children in different parts of Goa. We feed a total of 700 underprivileged children each day. These nutritious meals are distributed in the homes, shelters, slums and schools so that the children will be able to grow, learn and transform their lives to a better one.

 We at El Shaddai believe that the intake of food not only sustains a person, it also paves a way for a healthy future. We strive to deliver nutritious meals to children and communities who need it the most. 

The El Shaddai mission is to nourish lives, empower communities, respond to emergencies and build a strong movement towards ending hunger. 

There is a beautiful story of a boy named Akhil(name changed). He came to Goa with his family last year. His father thought this would be good place to find work and support his family. But his father was not able to get work and often the family went to sleep on an empty stomach. Sometimes the neighbors would give their leftovers to them. The mother was not happy with the state of the house and left her family and went away. The children suffered the most. But to their good fortune they came across the El Shaddai staff who lead them to our shelters where they were provided with nutritious meals and were also enrolled in school. There are so many children like these who are just seeking for a helping hand.
