Dear Friend,
We bring to you our report on “House of Hope - A way out for homeless women”
At El Shaddai we firmly believe that "Every woman deserves a safe place to call home. No one should face the cold streets alone.
With this thought in mind we have the House of Hope for Homeless women, a place where they feel safe, warm, comfortable and secure.
Many women end up homeless due to family problems, mental health issues, social ostracism, or exploitation. Homeless women are particularly vulnerable to violence and exploitation, making their situation more precarious than that of their male counterparts.
Presently we have 7 women residing in this home. Here they learn various skills like tailoring, weaving, crochet, and art and crafts. Along with warm and nutritious food, we provide healthcare, and support services for the Homeless women. Many of them were left abandoned on the streets and their health conditions were failing.
We have a story of one such lady named Seema (name changed) who was found on the streets of a city in Goa. She slept on the pavements and when she was hungry she begged for food. She had wounds on her body and scars that were not healing. The outreach workers brought her to our home where she was given warm food, clean clothes, and a warm bed.
Within a few days she took on a beautiful transformation, there was a smile on her face, a look of contentment and hope in her eyes. She learnt beautiful art works and is now making beautiful hair accessories. Her story highlights the struggles, the resilience, and the power of compassion to transform lives. While homelessness can strip away dignity and hope, it only takes one act of kindness, one helping hand, to spark a journey of recovery and change.
By empowering women and fostering inclusive policies, we can take meaningful steps toward eradicating homelessness and ensuring that all women have access to a safe and secure future. We have been able to provide for all these women only with your continuous love and support.
Your sponsorship has made a significant difference in our mission to provide shelter and resources for homeless women. Thanks to your commitment and belief in our cause, we have been able to expand our services, reach more individuals in need, and create a safe environment for those we serve.
With Gratitude
Sincerely
