From Rescue to Recovery: Your Impact at Ibb Zoo

On behalf of the Support Yemeni Society Organization, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude for your continued dedication to the IBB ZOO EMERGENCY RESCUE MISSION, Yemen. Your compassion has been a lifeline for these animals during Yemen’s most challenging times.

As we look ahead, we face a critical window of time. The rainy season is approaching, and the current infrastructure at Ibb Zoo is not equipped to handle it. Without proper enclosures and weather-proof shelters, the animals are at risk of severe exposure to the cold and damp, which can lead to illness and extreme distress.

The Difference You Have Made

Because of your generosity, our team has been able to provide immediate, life-saving interventions:

Nutritional Support: We have maintained a consistent supply of food for all residents, including lush grasses for the herbivores and essential grains for the horses.
Medical Care: Our team successfully distributed vital vaccines and provided grooming and stable maintenance to ensure the animals' physical health.
Capacity Building: We conducted specialized training for zoo staff to improve animal handling techniques and daily welfare standards.

The Urgent Challenge Ahead

While we have stabilized their nutrition, the physical environment remains the greatest threat. To transform the zoo into a safe sanctuary, we must address the following needs:

Infrastructure Rehabilitation: Building spacious, weather-resistant cages to protect animals from the upcoming rains.

Your extraordinary generosity is not merely providing aid; it is fundamentally transforming the well-being of the vulnerable animals at Ibb Zoo.

Over the past three months, our dedicated SYS Team has worked diligently, and it is thanks to your support that we have achieved significant milestones:

Impact of Your Contributions

Carnivore Care: Provided specialized, consistent care and nutritional support, including a stable supply of meat for lions, hyenas, and eagles, while ensuring clean, safe enclosures.
Equine and Herbivore Welfare: Ensured the regular feeding, grooming, and stable maintenance for the horses, alongside providing lush, essential grasses for donkeys and other plant-eating species.

As seasonal changes usher in the colder weather, the challenges for the animals intensify. The harsh winter months bring a critical need for expanded support to ensure their warmth, security, and sustained health.

Specifically, the lions and horses require expanded and safer enclosures to protect them from the elements, and we urgently need to stock additional veterinary and nutritional supplies to preemptively address potential seasonal health issues. Your continued support is essential for us to respond swiftly and effectively to these immediate, life-preserving needs.
