G’day, everyone!
Let’s chat about our mates out in the inland communities. It has been a scorching summer, and while the folks on the coast might be moaning about the heat, our Elders and the local communities living further inland are really feeling the burn.
The good news? Those new shaded spaces and better water setups are doing more than just keeping folks cool; they are bringing everyone together. We even held a Western Style event, a community quiz night recently, and honestly, it was a total ripper! It was a bit of a laugh seeing the mob get stuck into those western style trivia questions about their own community. Seeing everyone having a yarn and a giggle in those cooler spots was the highlight of our month.
But look, there is still plenty of work to do. While we are seeing the police force making a real effort to bridge the gap, the fact remains that we are still seeing too many young people from these communities ending up in the justice system. It is a tough reality, but we are absolutely committed to changing it. That is why this project is so critical. We are here for the long haul because we believe that with the right support, we can help ensure a brighter, fairer future for all.
