Dear Supporter,
This month we had a wonderful visit from our friends Lola and Indie. Lola and Indie are from Colorado and decided that they would raise money to buy school supplies buy saving their weekly allowance. Direction and the students at Mal Pais public school enjoyed receiving the school supplies and were grateful for Lola and Indie's generosity and thoughtfulness. We also visited the projects pre-school with Lola and Indie, who had also bought with their allowance reading books that they had enjoyed as youngsters. The children and volunteers were thrilled to receive them and look froward to reading them and finding out why Lola and Indie enjoyed them so much.
The project would like to formally thank Lola and Indie for showing such generosity and at such a young age!
Our community doesn't have a library and books are difficult to find or buy, it really is a treat to be gifted books that can be enjoyed over and over again!
Thanks for supporting this project.
All the best

Education Heals
By Sophie Birkett | Head of Operations

Dear Supporter,
This project has been established to aid the local schools which are currently over populated, under-staffed and under-resourced. It aims to improve facilities and resources, supply assistant teachers, and text books for every student.
With the over flow of immigrants, due to the booming tourist industry, the public schools have become over populated, under staffed and under resourced. Currently students attend school for 3 hrs a day, with teachers often having to group grades together.
With support, the project will include:
- Textbooks for every student
- Assistant Biligual teachers
- Assistance with labor and materials for the construction of basic classroom facilities
- Assistance with infrastructure and grounds maintance
- Adult evening language classes
- Extra curricular and after shcool activities
- Assistance in developing a small scale IT center with computers, a printer and photocopier
- Assistance in developing a small scale library.
Education fights crimes, violence and wars...education unites us all.
Many thanks for your continuing support

Happy New Year
By Sophie Birkett | Charitable Trust manager

Dear Supporter,
December we saw our kindergarten class of 2013 graduate and our new classroom were completed with generous donations from you and lots of volunteer work!
For 2014, we are sponsoring three of our graduates to study at the local non-profit bilingual school which is a considerable amount per month, so we have plenty of fundraisers planned for this year. We will also continue our own sponsorship program with the Mal Pais Education Project Kinder, we have 10 students starting on Monday!
We are grateful for the opportunity to unite our little community through education. Through our learning center and community center we're able to support and empower local families and facilitate a brighter future for our students.
Happy New Year and thank you all for your support in our community/education project.
All the best
