15 Uruguayan Girls in Tech

Between 2016 and 2022, the TIC program graduated a steady stream of students, reflecting both continuity and gradual shifts in gender composition. In 2016, the cohort was the largest, with 41 graduates—9 women and 32 men. The following years saw smaller groups: 29 in 2017, 24 in 2018, and 25 in 2019, each maintaining a predominance of male students but with consistent female participation. In 2020, the balance shifted slightly, with 10 women and 13 men among 23 graduates, marking one of the most even distributions across genders. The subsequent years, 2021 and 2022, returned to larger male majorities, with 23 and 26 graduates respectively, yet women continued to represent a meaningful share of each generation. Altogether, these figures narrate the trajectory of TIC graduates over seven years, highlighting both the resilience of the program and the evolving patterns of gender representation within its student body.

In 2025, the TIC program had a total of 28 active students. Among them, 11 were women, 1 identified with a non-binary or fluid category, and 16 were men. This composition shows a diverse cohort, with female participation accounting for nearly 40%, male representation making up more than half, and a small but significant presence of students outside the binary categories. Together, these figures provide a snapshot of the program’s inclusivity and the balance of gender identities within that generation.

As per recruitment, girls that apply to study in TIC, are automatically accepted. We need your help to continue supporting Uruguayan girls and young women in TIC.

Growing Together: our ANIMA journey

Learning at ÁNIMA goes beyond the classroom. In 2024, students took on quality apprenticeship, gaining real-world experience alongside their studies. And none of this would be possible without the 122 Training Companies that have opened their doors and shared their knowledge with them.

In 2024, 158 students joined our Baccalaureate program, and 94 became part of FINEST. Since 2016, we’ve had the privilege of working with more than 600 young people.

Every student’s journey is unique, but as a whole, their achievements speak for themselves:

96% successfully completed the academic year.
70% stepped into the formal labor market.
49% of apprentices found their place in Training Companies.
70% are continuing their education.

This year was particularly special for FINEST, as the first-ever cohort completed their journey. Their results tell a powerful story of growth and opportunity:

73% successfully moved forward.
69% graduated.
57% found jobs in the formal labor market.
76% are working and/or doing formative internships.

At ÁNIMA, we believe that real learning happens when there is well-being, a sense of purpose, and a strong community. That’s why we don’t just focus on what we teach, but also on how we work together. Our culture is one of continuous learning, where innovation keeps us moving forward, and values like mutual respect and collaboration create a space where everyone is supported—and can support others when needed.

ÁNIMA is movement. It’s the energy that comes from opening up to the world, growing alongside the business sector, and constantly reimagining what’s possible. Professionalism, a systemic perspective, and respect for each person we meet are the foundations that make this journey meaningful.

And this is just the beginning :)
