In December 2025, the Agripreneurship Alliance formally launched the Entrepreneurship in African Agribusiness (EiAA) course in Botswana. The launch took place alongside the RUFORUM Annual General Meeting, a gathering of more than 180 African universities working in agrifood systems, agribusiness, and related research across Africa.
A clear message emerged from RUFORUM this year. Universities play a vital role in high-quality scientific research, but they also need to place greater emphasis on application. Research must connect more directly to food systems, markets, A core principle of EiAA is accessibility. The course has been designed as a free resource, available to any entrepreneur, or any organisation that supports entrepreneurs, who wishes to strengthen their understanding of agribusiness entrepreneurship. By removing cost barriers and focusing on practical relevance, AAAM aims to support wider adoption and shared learning across institutions and countries.
EiAA is not a finished product. It is a living resource that will continue to evolve through use, feedback, and collaboration. Its launch in December marked an important milestone, but its real value will be measured by how it is used to support entrepreneurs and educators in the months and years ahead. The next steps are to translate the training into French and into Arabic and we are seeking funding to accomplish this. It will allow a wider reach into North, West and Central Africa.
We would like to thank the individual entrepreneurs, volunteers, and supporters who have given their time, insight, and energy to AAAM’s work. We are also very grateful to those who have supported us through GlobalGiving campaigns, and to the Rotary Club Montpellier Etang d'Or,France, for their commitment and solidarity.
