Stop The Killing of Dogs & Cats in Japan

Peace Wanko regularly visits animal shelters to pick up dogs that are scheduled to be euthanized.
On the day we visited, there were stray puppies, old dogs and puppies that had been abandoned by their owners, sick or injured dogs, and dogs with nowhere to go waiting for us. All of the dogs looked anxious and sad.

One of the dogs was an old Shiba Inu that had been abandoned by its owner and had a large tumor on its left side.
The dog also had severe eye disease, and its eyes seemed to hurt and were constantly crying.

This dog was never taken to the vet, never loved. This dog was likely abused, left in poor conditions and eventually abandoned by its owner.

There were stray dogs that were so scared of people that their bodies were stiff and curled up. Stray dogs are often euthanized, but if you show them some love, they will surely become attached to you and become an irreplaceable member of your family.

After we bring the rescued dogs back to Peace Wanko's Jinsekikogen Shelter, we provide them with the best medical care and care for them with lots of love, improving their physical and mental health.

Saving the lives of dogs that are scheduled to be euthanized and making them happy doesn't just make the dogs happy.
It's an activity that makes many people involved in protection activities, including us, happy as well.

Peace Wanko regularly visits animal protection centers to rescue dogs that are scheduled for euthanasia. These are dogs with nowhere else to go, including wild dogs, abandoned dogs, those suffering from illnesses, and those with disabilities.

On one particularly hot day, we encountered a group of dogs rescued from a case of animal hoarding. The owner had allowed unchecked breeding, leading to an unsustainable number of dogs, which eventually required intervention.

Though these dogs were once owned by a human, they were not accustomed to people. When they saw the staff, they trembled in fear. Even getting them into a transport cage was a challenge due to their fear.

"You can do it. Let's do our best. Good dog,"

Makoto Abe, the project leader of Peace Wanko Japan, repeatedly spoke gently to the dog, encouraging it as he carefully guided it into the cage.

Among the group was a set of siblings that looked strikingly similar. It appeared they hadn't had enough to eat, as their skin was in poor condition. Perhaps they had endured traumatic experiences at the hands of humans, as they huddled together in fear, trembling in the corner.

"I'm sorry. I’m taking you home now,"

Abe whispered softly, reassuring them as he gently placed each one into a cage.

Many of the dogs rescued by Peace Wanko from government facilities carry emotional scars. It takes time for them to trust and open their hearts to humans again. However, thanks to the loving adoptive families and the support from our generous donors, we have been able to provide happiness to over 4,500 dogs so far.
