Violence against women creates a sense of insecurity and fear in the community.

There are various ways in which violence manifests: sexualised, physical, psychological, social, and financial violence. Sexualised violence is one form of gender-based violence and is an expression of discrimination. Women are not only discriminated against on the basis of their gender. They are also often subjected to additional forms of discrimination, such as racism, homophobia or ableism, which influence and reinforce each other.

CHHASE raise public awareness of sexualised violence and educate people on the causes and consequences of violence against women. The general public and decision-makers such as politicians are called upon to deal with the issue of violence against women. Our aims include measures against sexualised and gender-based violence as well as discrimination-free assistance for survivors.

CHHASE organises skill trainings, horticultural and agricultural training for women and girls so they can secure their own living independently. As a contribution, we have trained 60 women on sewing, 40 women on embroidery training provided and certificates issued.

CHHASE is working for ''Down trodden communities development'' and is always taking new steps for that. From time to time we see the impact stories from ground by our feedback forms.one of these Beneficiary's story is shared in this report.

Meet with Mahalakshmi......!!

Hello everyone! My name is Mahalakshmi and I am 15 years old. I am studying in rural school and I am in 9th standard. I belong to a small village and my mother is housewife and my father does farming labor on someone’s land. I have also a younger brother who is 9 years old. My father is migrant laborer and he often migrate from one place to other. I saw CHHASE ngo was helping poor children to go to school. I am interested to go to school and approached the CHHASE staff and they promised to help.

CHHASEvisited my house, They took the baseline survey of me and saw my family’s poor financial condition. Then they told my family that they heard that I am not going to school and this was because my father migration. The CHHASE team members then took my school dress size and then the CHHASE team members said that they will be coming back after few days. After few days the CHHASE team members called me to school where they had organized the School kit & school dress distribution program. I was also given the school dress and school kit for free by the CHHASE team members.

I was very happy to see the school dress and school kit because now I will be able to go to school without any problem. I went back to my home and showed the school dress and school kit to my family and then they were also smiling as all this was given to me for free. They told me to study better and always do good things as when you do good things then good things return to you too. My school mates were also very happy when they saw me coming back to school. Now I will be going school every day as now I am having school dress of my size to wear and school shoes of my size to wear. I and my family thanked the CHHASE team for identifying and providing relief to me. I will be always studying hard to become successful so that this thing could not happen to me twice.

All these happened with the help of Organization & Donors. So, I thank from bottom of my heart.

A Story of Geetha

My name is Geeth (Name Changed), and I live in a small remote rural hamlet surrounded by fields. After my husband passed away 6 years ago, My Life used to be very challenging for me and my two children. As a widow, I am struggling to escape violence. I felt helpless until I met CHHASE NGO staff, my life changed since then .

I heard about CHHASE NGO’s Women Sustainable Livelihood project training. I was introduced to CHHASE NGO by some women of my hamlet. They encouraged me to join the Women Sewing training. At first, I was nervous because I was afraid. But the CHHASE NGO staff assured me that they would teach me everything.. They offered me a small amount to run my family during training.

I learned sewing for 3 and half months and became excellent tailor and learned all techniques of stitching blouses, petticoats, jackets, nighties, shirts, chudidhars etc. When they said that my training is over and I have to start my own sewing business. I was confident enough to start business but I have no money to buy a sewing machine. I appeal the matter to the director of CHHASE NGO and He considered my request and sanctioned a sewing machine. I started my sewing business. Now I am earning a regular income of rupees 600 per day.

Now, I started saving a little out of my earnings. This has allowed me to send my children back to school and even save a little for emergencies. My life has completely changed. Now I am free from violence and people feel that I am no longer dependent on others, and I feel confident in my ability to work for my family.

The support from CHHASE NGO didn’t just give me training and financial help; but it gave me a sense of purpose and the strength to face life’s challenges. Today, when I look at my children and see them happy and studying, I feel a sense of pride. I am deeply grateful to CHHASE NGO for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. They have truly transformed my life, and I thank them from the bottom of my heart.

Warm greetings from CHHASE.

Thank you for your generous contributions for the provision of skill trainings to poor rural women to escape violence through esteemed organization GlobalGiving.

Trainings are great opportunity to under privileged youth and women to start their own business or to get a job to come out of poverty.

So far, CHHASE has trained 15000+ youth, women and school children in different skill trainings, capacity building, leadership, personality development and village need based trainings. When they start earn, they are more confident, brave enough to escape any kind of violence.

CHHASE is identifying the economically disadvantaged poor in rural areas, where the women are facing lot of problems of violence, to run their families, educate their children and timely medical support to their family members. In our analysis most of the poor women are lack of skills to earn, because of poverty, discrimination among the community are facing violence.

Your support enable us to provide various skills trainings to rural poor to earn, to get jobs in organizations, industries and to start self-business. When a woman become independent all the problems she can overcome alone. We are giving awareness to be bold and to face the problems with their family.

We are giving awareness on :-

To be bold
To start self business
To save money
To become a member of self help group
To go to bank, offices and government offices and handle the problems Etc.

Parvathy story :-

My name is Parvathy and I am aging 32 years. I am from a poor family and I lost my husband 3 years back. I have 2 female kids and due to no job, I am unable to feed and send my children to school. As I am alone, I face lot of threat and many are trying to use me for sexual abuse.

In such condition, I came to know about CHHASE NGO sewing training and I got seat for training and started learning sewing. After successful completion, I started my business by getting a loan from bank.

Now I am earning Rupees 1000 daily and I am able to send my children to school and feed my children belly full. Now I have respect in community and no fear. Thank you for helping me to escape violence.
