Dear Friend,
Education for girls living in slums is a critical issue that can significantly change their lives and communities. Many girls in slum areas face a range of challenges that prevent them from accessing quality education, including poverty, lack of infrastructure, early marriage, child labor, and gender discrimination. However, empowering these girls through education can break the cycle of poverty and lead to a more equitable society.
El Shaddai aims to educate all girls from the slums and poverty-stricken areas. For this purpose, slum education was started to aid all such girls who wish to study but are not able to do so. El Shaddai created a platform for these girls so they would not only be empowered but also feel empowered and change their lives for the better.
We have an inspiring story about a girl named Maya (name changed). She lived in one of the slums of Goa. She often dreamed of going to school like her peers but was told that education was not for her, as she had to get married and go away one day.
But everything changed the day an outreach worker from El Shaddai came to meet the slum dwellers. Though at first the family was reluctant eventually they agreed for their daughter to attend our schools. She now is a student of our school and enjoys the experience of school learning like any other child. She says she wants to grow up and be a teacher and change the lives of others. Her story is a reminder that no matter where we come from, education is a powerful catalyst for change, and every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Education is the greatest tool to help girls in slums break free from the cycles of poverty, violence, and inequality. By removing barriers to education and empowering these girls with knowledge, communities can create a brighter, more equitable future.
Investment in girls’ education, health, protection from violence, and economic opportunity enable girls to realise their human rights.
We can reach out to these girls only with your continuous help and support. We express our deepest gratitude for giving us your love and support
With gratitude,
Sincerely
El Shaddai family!
