The path for students in rural Laos is steep. Last time we spoke, we shared the heart-wrenching reality that 70 percent of children are left behind simply because early childhood education is out of reach. We know that for those who do make it to the city to study, the costs of housing and food turn a dream into an impossible burden.
The progress we have made together has been incredible, but the demand continues to outpace our current capacity. We have seen firsthand that when a student graduates, the poverty cycle for their entire family begins to break—going from a 47 percent chance of living in poverty down to just 4 percent for degree holders. Those are not just numbers to us, they are the faces of the students we are fighting for every single day.
We are holding steady, but we need to do more to keep our current cohort enrolled. We are currently navigating a tricky academic term where living costs in the city are rising, and the families who usually chip in are struggling with their own harvests. This is exactly where your help turns a potential dropout into a future graduate.
From March 17th to the 20th, we have a massive window to change the game. GlobalGiving is hosting the Little by Little campaign, and every donation we receive up to 50 dollars will be matched at 50 percent.
Your 50 dollar gift instantly becomes 75 dollars.
That 75 dollars covers the vital room and board for a student who is currently living hundreds of kilometers away from home to attend school.
Please mark your calendars for March 17th. We are prepared, our students are ready, and your contribution is the final piece of the puzzle to keep them in the classroom. Let us make this year the one where we secure the future for our next group of leaders.
Thank you for refusing to let these kids face that poverty trap alone.
