In 2026, Nyaka marks 25 years of community-led impact in rural Uganda. What began as a simple promise in 2001, to stand with the most vulnerable, has grown into a long-term commitment to healing, dignity, and justice for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence.
Through this program, Nyaka supports survivors with trauma-informed counseling, access to medical care, safe spaces, and community-based prevention efforts. Our approach is rooted in trust and local leadership, ensuring survivors are supported not only in moments of crisis, but throughout their healing journey.
As we reflect on 25 years of impact, we are reminded that real change takes time, consistency, and compassion. Survivors are not defined by what happened to them, and with the right support, they can rebuild their lives with strength and hope.
Thank you for walking alongside survivors and for helping Nyaka keep its promise, year after year.
