Thanks to your generous support, we are doing more than just teaching; we are transforming the daily lives of hundreds of families in Teopisca, San Cristóbal, and Zinacantán. This quarter (October–December 2025), we turned health education into an inspiring journey for children and community leaders alike.
1. Little Steps, Big Changes: Health in the Classroom
Our goal is to ensure that what is learned at school reaches the family dinner table.
• Nourishing Young Minds: We successfully completed the second phase of our Healthy Eating cycle with 170 boys and girls. We aren't just talking about food; we are evaluating how these children are bringing healthier habits into their homes.
• Bright Smiles: A total of 295 students participated in our Oral Hygiene workshops. The highlight? Seeing their excitement as they practiced with the giant handcrafted cardboard jaws (70x80 cm) we built to make learning interactive and fun.
2. Health Guardians: Empowering Local Leaders
We believe lasting change starts with local leadership. We worked hand-in-hand with dedicated community health promoters:
• Acteal Abejas Collective (Chenalhó): 7 promoters (mostly women) deepened their expertise in managing Type 2 Diabetes to better serve their neighbors.
• Poconichim Group: 4 health promoters focused on Healthy Pregnancy and the responsible use of medication. Their commitment is the heartbeat of this project.
3. Creativity That Educates
To make sure the message sticks, our team developed unique, culturally relevant materials:
• 6 New Educational Guides: Tailor-made lesson plans covering nutrition, dental health, and maternal care.
• Visual Learning: By combining technology (videos and music) with handcrafted tools, we’ve made health education accessible and engaging even in the most remote areas.
Resilience in Action
The road wasn't always easy. Heavy rains in October 2025 closed paths and schools, but our determination remained unshaken. Thanks to the energy of our pedagogy and dentistry interns and the strategic use of digital tools, we kept the momentum going, ensuring no community was left behind.

1. Pequeños pasos, grandes cambios: Salud en la Escuela
Nuestro objetivo es que lo aprendido en el aula llegue hasta la mesa del hogar.
• Nutrición con Color: Logramos que 170 niñas y niños de preescolar y primaria concluyeran su ciclo de alimentación saludable. No solo hablamos de comida; evaluamos cómo han cambiado sus hábitos en casa.
• Sonrisas Brillantes: ¡Un éxito total! Alcanzamos a 295 estudiantes con talleres de higiene bucal. Lo más emocionante fue ver su entusiasmo al usar las mandíbulas gigantes de cartón (70x80 cm) que fabricamos para que aprendieran jugando.
2. Guardianes de la Salud: Empoderando a la Comunidad
Creemos en el liderazgo local. Por eso, trabajamos hombro a hombro con promotores de salud:
• Colectivo Acteal Abejas (Chenalhó): 7 promotores (mayoría mujeres) se especializaron en el manejo de la Diabetes.
• Grupo Poconichim: Avanzamos con 4 promotoras enfocadas en maternidad segura y el uso responsable de medicamentos. ¡Su compromiso es el motor del cambio!
3. Creatividad que Educa
Para que el mensaje perdure, diseñamos materiales únicos:
• Creamos 6 nuevas guías didácticas adaptadas a la realidad de la comunidad.
• Diseñamos herramientas visuales hechas a mano que facilitan el aprendizaje en zonas donde la tecnología no siempre llega.
Nuestra resiliencia frente a los retos
No todo fue sencillo. Las fuertes lluvias de octubre cerraron caminos y escuelas, pero nuestra determinación no se detuvo. Gracias al apoyo de jóvenes pasantes de pedagogía y odontología, y al uso estratégico de herramientas digitales para hacer las clases más dinámicas (música y videos), logramos superar los obstáculos climáticos.
