Partnerships in Action: Advancing Safety, Stability, and Hope

This quarter, FSWW strengthened its impact through meaningful partnerships and community collaboration. By working alongside dedicated agencies, donors, and supporters, we expanded critical resources for survivors of domestic violence and their children. These collective efforts advanced safety, economic empowerment, and emotional well-being for the families we serve.

Employment Partnership with Goodwill Industries of Houston

This quarter, FSWW continued its meaningful partnership with Goodwill Houston Heights via their Second Century Vision Program, to support our clients who are rebuilding their lives and seeking sustainable employment. Through this collaboration, clients were connected to job readiness training, employment placement opportunities, workforce development resources and ongoing support to help maintain long-term employment.

Economic stability is a critical component of long-term safety for survivors. This partnership helps bridge the gap between crisis recovery and financial independence.

Thanksgiving Blessing for Families

During the Thanksgiving season, FSWW’s community partner, Boxes for Billy (The Benoit-Reese Family), blessed our clients with gift cards and whole turkeys to help provide holiday meals and essential items. This allowed families to purchase groceries of their choice, prepare Thanksgiving meals and experience dignity in selecting items for their households.

The ability to provide for their families during the holidays restored confidence and strengthened hope for many of the families we serve.

Fresh Spirit’s 21st Anniversary Toy Drive

In December, FSWW hosted its annual 21st Anniversary Christmas Toy Giveaway. This heartfelt event is dedicated to our clients and their families who have been impacted by domestic violence. Through generous donations, volunteers and community support, not only were we were able to provide an array of toys and gifts, the children participated in face-painting and games with Mrs. Claus, Christmas stocking decorating and was provided a Chick-fil-A brunch.

During the giveaway, children received age-appropriate toys and holiday gifts that brought joy, hope, and a sense of normalcy to children whose lives have been marked by transition and healing. Our families experienced a stress-free holiday season and survivors felt supported and remembered during a vulnerable time.

This event was more than a giveaway, it was a reminder to our families that they are seen, valued, and not alone.

FSWW’s Sister Partnership

During the month of February, FSWW’s sister agency, Harris County Domestic Violence Coordinating Council (HCDVCC), provided gift cards that assisted our clients with utilities, food, medication and furniture. These funds offered much relief to our clients at the time they needed it most.

FSWW’s Quarterly Stats are as follows:

This 1st quarter, FSWW provided holistic, trauma-informed care to 168 unique clients through 1,360 hours of service. These services included concentrated case management, providing food, clothing, rental and utility assistance, psychiatric and medication support, emergency hotel accommodations and housing placement assistance, transportation, furniture and household items. FSWW assisted with principal document retrievals that were destroyed or lost during the survivors escape and transition. For the survivors who were inundated with legal matters, FSWW offered supportive legal advocacy and court accompaniment to ensure clients knew they were not alone as they fight to regain their independence, stability and peace of mind.

FSWW’s counseling and emotional wellness support also remains in great demand! We provided 683 hours of counseling/therapy to 86 survivors and hosted 11 support groups with 96 attendees. Every number represents a life touched, a burden lifted, and a step closer to healing and independence.

Moving Forward & Looking Ahead with Hope and Purpose

This quarter demonstrated the power of partnership, compassion, and community. Whether through toys, employment pathways, or holiday support, every effort reinforced our mission.

We are incredibly grateful for the continued support through our GlobalGiving partner. This partnership is helping us meet critical needs in our community and empowering survivors to reclaim their lives with dignity and strength!

As the demand for housing and emergency shelter continues to rise, we are working tirelessly to expand our services and deepen our collaborations with local housing partners, builders, and community organizations. Unfortunately, overcrowded shelters and age restrictions continue to pose challenges, especially for large families, but we remain committed to finding innovative, compassionate solutions.

Together, we are not just providing services, we are restoring lives as we help our clients create pathways to safety, stability, and new beginnings! FSWW is more determined than ever to walk alongside survivors and their families as they rebuild their lives, rediscover their power, and step boldly into their futures!
