In 2025, the Wayuu Taya Foundation continued its commitment to improving the quality of life for Indigenous and underserved communities in Venezuela. Through programs focused on food security, health, clean water, education, and Music, we expanded access to essential resources and opportunities.
This report highlights our main accomplishments during the year.
Food
The Food Program supported 90 communities and 118 schools, providing weekly meals to 6,671 people, including 4,717 children.
To maintain consistent distribution, 21 shipments of fresh produce, each transporting 4.1 tons, were delivered from the Colombia–Venezuela border to Apuna Farm in Mara Municipality, Zulia State. These deliveries ensured a steady supply of fruits and vegetables, strengthening school meal programs and supporting food security in vulnerable areas.
Health
Health initiatives reached 318,073 people in 2025 through medical supply distribution, health campaigns, and hygiene programs.
Medical supplies were distributed through 110 institutions, benefiting over 68,000 people. In addition, six health campaigns provided medical check-ups and preventive care to 3,521 individuals.
Hygiene initiatives reached 246,393 people through the distribution of hygiene kits across 1,002 schools, 112 communities, 63 institutions, 79 NGOs, and six health drives. These efforts promoted disease prevention and strengthened hygiene practices in schools and communities.
Water
Access to clean water remained a priority. In 2025, 924,560 liters of safe water were distributed in the Mara region, benefiting 791 people.
Throughout the year, 411 people maintained regular access to safe water, while 380 additional individuals gained access during the final quarter. Reliable water access continues to improve sanitation and overall community health.
Education
Education programs benefited 704 people in 2025.
Tepichi Talashi School supported 411 students, providing two daily meals, school supplies, and access to basic healthcare services. In addition, six teacher development workshops were conducted, directly benefiting 293 participants and strengthening the community’s educational capacity.
Music and Cultural Preservation
Music programs engaged 328 participants in 2025, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 1,438 to date.
Through 237 workshops, the Núcleo Wayúu Taya Program served 252 youth with musical initiation, orchestral training, choral education, Alma Llanera repertoire, and ancestral music. The Music Heals Program provided twice-weekly instruction to 31 children across various instruments. The Ancestral Music Program supported 45 children in preserving traditional musical expressions.
Participants received instruments, snacks, drinking water, transportation, and educational materials to ensure consistent participation.
Through these initiatives, the Wayuu Taya Foundation continues to create measurable impact in the communities we serve.
Thanks to the support of Acceso, Direct Relief, Core Response, Center for Disaster Philanthropy (CDP), the Giustra International Foundation, El Sistema, Music Heals International, Colgate-Palmolive Venezuela, and our partners and volunteers, we are able to continue our work and expand opportunities for the communities that need it most.
We are grateful for your continued support.
