Strong responses start with strong teams. In South Sudan, this philosophy drives every aspect of our work, and over the last few months we have been working to equip our incredible teams to meet the evolving needs of the communities we serve. This work has focused on a holistic approach - spanning from the classroom to emergency clinics.
In the last month alone, our team conducted a series of comprehensive trainings focused on first aid, the early identification of malnutrition, and critical gender-based violence (GBV) referral pathways. In a country where the health system faces immense pressure from conflict and displacement, these skills are transformative. They mean our teams can act faster, respond with more specialized care, and connect survivors to the right support systems when it matters most. When humanitarian teams are supported and equipped, the communities they serve are strengthened alongside them, creating a network of care that can withstand the daily challenges of life in a displacement site.
This commitment to dignity extends directly into the lives of the next generation. For hundreds of thousands of children in South Sudan, attending school is far from a given. This year, we worked closely with a primary school in Juba to remove the barriers that keep children out of the classroom. By refurbishing classrooms and providing essential supplies like uniforms and shoes, we’ve helped create an environment where students can focus on their futures. For girls, we provided dignity kits with essential sanitary supplies, ensuring that they no longer have to miss school during their monthly periods. As one mother shared with us, "For the first time, my daughter is walking into school with her head held high. You gave her dignity, and you gave us hope."
While we build for the future in schools, we are also fighting urgent health risks on the ground today. In Juba’s internally displaced persons (IDP) camps, cholera remains a constant threat. Our teams are working side-by-side with these communities to protect public health through hygiene promotion and water safety initiatives.
At IsraAID, our mission is to bridge the gap between immediate emergency relief and long-term community resilience. Our presence in South Sudan is not just about responding to the crises of today, but about building the local capacity and specialized systems that will sustain communities tomorrow. Thank you for your partnership as we work to turn professional humanitarian expertise into lasting dignity for those we serve in South Sudan.
