Fatima..Smiling Through the Gaps of Time

By Abdulrazak Madi | Project Leader

After many years of forced absence from the classroom, Fatima has returned to hold her pen once again. Her hiatus was never a choice; it was the harsh consequence of losing her father—her primary support—leaving her submerged in life's daunting responsibilities and hardships. For a long time, she believed the "education train" had left the station forever.

Today, Fatima faces a unique challenge: the age gap between her and the regular students. However, this difference has only fueled her resolve. With a smile, Fatima shares that the feeling of returning to her books and notebooks has brought her indescribable happiness, overshadowing any lingering hesitation about the passing years. For her, knowledge has no "expiry date"; it is a journey that begins the moment we decide to hold onto hope.

Fatima expresses her deep gratitude, saying: "Masarat restored my hope; without it, I would never have been able to return to education." Thanks to the flexible educational system and the nurturing environment at "Masarat," Fatima found a safe space that understands her unique circumstances and respects her ambition. This support removed the dread of a late return and transformed it into incredible creative energy.

To our partners at GlobalGiving: Fatima’s story is a living embodiment of the "second chance" you provide to orphans and those who have been out of school. Through your support, we restore their self-confidence and their ability to face society with pride. Thank you for making "Masarat" a bridge for dreamers like Fatima to cross toward a future they once thought was impossible.
