Ahmad..Who Will Return His Stolen Schoolbag?

By Abdulrazak Madi | Project Leader

Ahmad did not choose the path of labor, he found himself forced to choose between a "school desk" and "providing a livelihood" for his family. Consequently, he left his school to carry burdens far beyond his years, dealing with cold, silent pieces of iron.

In his eyes lies a deep sorrow that fleeting smiles cannot erase. His clothes, which should be clean and bright for school as he interacts with his peers in confidence and joy, are now stained with the black soot and grease of blacksmithing. This darkness is not merely on his clothes; it is a shadow cast over a childhood being stolen day by day by harsh professions.

Daily, Ahmad handles heavy machinery and sharp blacksmithing tools, at a time when he should be carrying a light schoolbag filled with his books and notebooks. Instead of the voices of teachers and the stories of friends, his ears are filled with the sound of hammers. Instead of solving mathematical equations, he spends his day calculating how to endure the harshness of both iron and reality.

At Masarat, we believe that Ahmad’s natural place is on the "Path of Knowledge." Therefore, through our flexible educational system, we strive to reach Ahmad in his workshop, telling him that he can study and dream without being forced to abandon the work that supports his family. We provide him with a "Digital School" that goes to him wherever he is.

Our Valued Partners on GlobalGiving, through your continuous support, you are helping to lighten the "weight of worry" off these children's shoulders. You are helping us transform that heavy hammer in Ahmad’s hand into a "pen" with which he builds a better tomorrow, and to return the schoolbag that was stolen from him. Thank you for giving orphans the chance to be children again, even as they face life’s harshest challenges.
