Dear Supporters,
We appreciate your interest in our effort to strengthen sustainable healthcare in Afghanistan. Although we have not yet received significant financial support, we have made important progress that brings us closer to a resilient and environmentally responsible energy system at FMIC.
Key Progress
FMIC completed a full feasibility assessment and confirmed the need for a phased solarization strategy to meet our 3 MW electricity requirement.
A major milestone was achieved in August 2025 with the inauguration of FMIC’s 1 MW solar power plant, demonstrating both feasibility and strong institutional commitment.
Our existing 160 kW solar system continues to operate effectively, reinforcing the value of renewable energy in reducing operational strain and diesel dependence.
Environmental indicators have been developed to track reductions in emissions, energy costs, and generator use as the project expands.
Why This Matters
Frequent power outages continue to challenge healthcare delivery across Afghanistan. Since 2022, FMIC must cover its own electricity bills, which places immense pressure on resources that could otherwise support disadvantaged patients. Expanding solar energy is essential to protecting lifesaving services and strengthening long-term sustainability.
How Your Support Helps
Your contribution will directly advance the next phase of solar installation, reduce diesel reliance, lower operational costs, and allow FMIC to reinvest savings into patient care. This project also serves as a model for environmentally responsible healthcare practices nationwide.
Looking Ahead
With donor support, we aim to expand our solar capacity toward the full 3 MW need. The next phase will include procurement, technical planning, and scaling installation work.
Thank you for standing with us as we work to build a cleaner, more resilient future for Afghanistan’s healthcare system.
