Due to the generous people who have supported this project, in 2021 we were able to recruit a dedicated GBV social worker and GBV co-ordinator. This means that we have people with expertise and commitment to seeing victims of GBV getting the support that they need, as well as fighting for justice by accompanying victims through the process from reporting to attending the court proceedings.
In light of their work, we are excited about the big plan for 2022 that we want to share with you. We are becoming proactive and starting on a journey to educate boys at school on anger management. Once they are equipped with these skills, they are less likely to channel their anger towards the women and girls in their lives and rather use it in a positive way to bring about the change that we need to see in places like Alexandra.
It is a long road but we know that it will be worthwhile. Along with the theoretical training, we also want to provide them with channels through which they can work off their feelings, from joining a running club to talking to a mentor and working out with some gym equipment.
Thank you for your support for our work and please share it with anyone who might be in a position to support this very vital initiative.
