The presentation of girl's life project

By Beatriz Gandara | Project Leader

Girls living in vulnerable contexts in Guatemala face multiple barriers —poverty, genderbased violence, child pregnancy, domestic work, and lack of access to services— that limit the development of their life project.

Despite these challenges, many girls hold clear aspirations: to finish their studies, pursue careers in health, teaching or administration, and contribute to the wellbeing of their families and communities.

Why are nursing, teaching, and accounting the most common career choices among scholarship recipients?

Nursing / Health: there is local demand, the possibility of shorter technical training (nursing technician), and immediate employment opportunities in health centers.
Teaching / Education: teaching is seen as a vocational path with opportunities in small communities; it is also a traditional option for women who want to balance work and family life.
Accounting / Administration: training in administration and accounting is perceived as a useful tool for entrepreneurship and managing family finances; many young women see it as a path to economic stability.

At this stage of the scholarship project, we’ve reached a deeply meaningful moment: the presentation of each girl’s life project. This process allows us to understand their dreams, goals, and the strength with which they aspire to continue studying to build a different future.

These are stories full of hope, effort, and determination—girls who dream of becoming teachers, nurses, accountants, and professionals contributing to the development of their communities. Supporting these scholarships is not just about funding education: it’s about opening doors, walking alongside their dreams, and allowing each girl to discover that her life project is possible.

We invite more generous hearts to join this effort, because every contribution directly becomes a real opportunity, a complete educational path, and a future full of possibilities.
