Project Report | Mar 9, 2026
A'hoy You Naughty Fishermen

By Tyrone Bennett | CEO of Action Change

Ahoy Ocean Explorers!

Listen, I’m not going to beat around the bush with some stuffy report. Let’s talk about the big blue backyard that keeps us all breathing. Our ocean project is exactly where it needs to be: right in the thick of the action, fighting for reefs, waves, and all the salty critters that call them home.

We’ve been out there getting our hands (and fins) dirty, and let me tell you, the ocean is resilient, but it is currently gasping for a bit of help. We are tackling everything from ghost nets that shouldn't be there to monitoring the health of coral that supports thousands of species. It is messy, it is tiring, and it is absolutely the most rewarding thing we could be doing with our time.

We are pushing hard to expand our reach in 2026, and we are not doing it alone. We’ve got a crew of volunteers who are essentially aquatic superheroes, and they are ready to dive in deeper. But superheroes need fuel, and that is where we hit the "boring but necessary" part: funding.

We are ready to dive into the GlobalGiving Little by Little campaign from March 17th to the 20th. This is the ultimate "power-up" for our ocean work. For those four days, every single donation under 50 dollars gets a 50 percent match.

  • Your 50 dollar contribution becomes 75 dollars.

  • That 75 dollars is real-world change. It buys the equipment to clear another stretch of reef, fuels our patrol boats, and keeps the data collection going so we can prove exactly why these areas need permanent protection.

Mark your calendars, set an alarm, tell your neighbors, and shout it from the rooftops! We need to make a splash during those four days to set the tone for the rest of the year.

If you have a bit of extra energy, why not turn it into a fundraiser? Host a trivia night, do a sponsored swim, or just share this link with someone who loves the sea as much as you do. We are in this together, and the ocean is waiting for us to do our part.

Stay salty and keep protecting the big blue!
