Burn Surgery for Children
By Johanna Hansing Becker | Development Officer
Dear HOPE Supporter,
What is incredible about HOPE's grassroots approach to outreach is that one project continues to influence another.
HOPE recently opened new rural HOPE Birthing Stations, with the purpose of providing safe maternal care to mothers who otherwise do not have access. As HOPE Birthing Stations are a new concept in the remote communities we are serving, we are conducting outreach through communication, free services and primary health care to the communities.
Through these outreach activities, HOPE is recruiting new patients who are suffering from burn who we otherwise would not come across. As you know, working in the rural areas is difficult as distance prevents people from hearing about services that are available to them. This is compounded by the fact that many families fear the cost of medical care. It is important that HOPE staff interact with communities in a number of ways to let them know that burn care at HOPE is FREE of cost. We look forward to these children receiving reconstructive surgery.
Sincerely,
