Honoring the Arabian Tiger and Your Vital Support

By Ahmed Alqadhi | Project Leader

UN International Day of the Arabian Tiger
UN International Day of the Arabian Tiger

Dear GlobalGiving Donors and Animal Lovers,

On behalf of the Support Yemeni Society Organization, I would like to extend our deepest gratitude for your steadfast commitment to our mission: “Rescue and Save Rare Yemeni Tiger from Extinction."  Your contributions have been instrumental in our efforts to protect these magnificent creatures and preserve the delicate biodiversity of the region.

International Day of the Arabian Tigers

The UN proclaimed that the 10th February should be International Day of the Arabian Tiger.  The UN says that “this International Day will promote much-needed attention for the Arabian Tiger and galvanize public engagement in conservation initiatives aimed at restoring leopard populations and other endangered species for the benefit of ecosystems."

Celebrating the International Day of the Arabian Tiger

Following the UN proclamation of February 10th as the International Day of the Arabian Tiger, our team has been working tirelessly to leverage this global platform. This day serves as a critical catalyst for public engagement, drawing much-needed attention to the restoration of leopard populations and the stabilization of their ecosystems.

Quarterly Highlights & Activities

To mark this international occasion and deepen local conservation roots, the SYS Team successfully executed several strategic initiatives:

  • Public Awareness & Advocacy: We launched a comprehensive multi-channel campaign utilizing community forums, digital media outreach, and localized print materials. These efforts were designed to educate the public on the ecological necessity of habitat preservation.
  • Empowering Local Champions: We provided critical resources and logistical support to our dedicated volunteers in the Hajjah Governorate, ensuring those on the front lines have the tools they need to monitor and protect local wildlife.

Success Story: A Community Transformed

One of our most heartening successes this quarter took place in a remote village within the Hajjah Governorate. Historically, local herders viewed the Arabian Tiger solely as a threat to their livestock. However, through our Community Engagement sessions, we met Ahmed, a local leader who initially voiced strong opposition to conservation efforts.

After attending our workshops and learning about the tiger’s role in maintaining a healthy ecosystem—and seeing the support SYS provides to the community—Ahmed became our most vocal advocate. He recently led a group of volunteers to identify and report tiger tracks near his village, ensuring the area remained undisturbed.

"I didn't realize that saving the tiger was also about saving our land," Ahmed told our team. "If the tiger disappears, the balance of our mountains goes with it."

Looking Ahead

Your generosity turns these stories of conflict into stories of coexistence. By bridging the gap between local communities and international conservation standards, we are ensuring that the Arabian Tiger remains a symbol of Yemen’s natural heritage for generations to come.

One last thing—sharing our project with your friends and family helps us spread the word about our work and continue to grow our community of supporters like you. If you’re willing to share the story of our work with your network, we’d be incredibly grateful.

Dear Generous Donors,

We want to invite you to start a Monthly Donation to achieve that noble purpose. Tell your family and friends that we have the power to provide stability for the Rare Yemeni Tigers.

Should you have any specific inquiries, please do not hesitate to reach out to Mr. Ahmed Al-Qadhi at alhosam82@gmail.com. We would love the opportunity to thank you again!

Respectfully Yours,

Ahmed Al-Qadhi
