Children's activities and updates (Jan-May 2025)

By Dr. Titilayo Lawal | Founder/President

The children at Hope Rising Homes Foundation enjoyed a delightful end-of-year school break and resumed classes on January 6, 2025. During this period, two children from the home fell ill and were diagnosed with malaria. They were treated at home with malaria medication, as prescribed by the doctor, and made a swift recovery. In response, the Founder instructed the staff to maintain a clean environment and take necessary steps to eliminate mosquitoes.

Legal and Family Matters

  • AY appeared in court on February 5, 2025. His care order was extended for one month, with a follow-up date set for March 19, 2025.
  • M’s court appearance scheduled for February 4, 2025, was adjourned to June 3, 2025. Her paternal aunt visited the home on February 7, 2025, as part of court-mandated bonding during the ongoing adoption process.
  • R's court date was moved from March 6 to April 3, 2025. His care order was subsequently extended by six months and is now set to conclude on October 9, 2025.

Academic and Recreational Activities

On February 10, 2025, the children began their mid-term examinations, which they completed successfully before going on their mid-term break. During the break, the children participated in various fun activities, including a park visit, shallow-water swimming, and attending a birthday party of a schoolmate, which they thoroughly enjoyed. School resumed on February 24, 2025.

In preparation for secondary school, M’s National Common Entrance Examination fee was paid on February 14, 2025. M is an exceptionally bright student, and we have great confidence in her future academic success.

AY’s final court appearance took place on March 19, 2025, at Ogba Court. Following a thorough deliberation, the judge approved his release into custody of his paternal mother. He left directly from court with her.

The children began their third term exams on March 24, 2025.

Sports and Extracurricular

Hope Rising Homes Foundation children participated enthusiastically in their school’s first Inter-House Sports Competition. Three of our children emerged as winners in various categories and received prizes for their performances. The school term concluded on April 10, 2025.

The home’s Social Worker participated in the FSS Alimosho strategic meeting with representatives from orphanages across the Alimosho area on April 24, 2025. A comprehensive report was submitted, discussing the progress and future for each child in our care.
