Quality healthcare to 45,000 households in Kenya

Happy New Year! As we reflect on the remarkable achievements of 2024, we are deeply grateful for your unwavering generosity and commitment to transforming lives through accessible, quality healthcare. Your support has empowered the Mabati Medical Centre to touch countless lives, fostering resilience, health, and hope in Kilifi County and beyond.

In 2024, we served 38,182 patients, providing critical healthcare services that restore health and alleviate suffering. Our diagnostic services conducted 19,294 tests 14,414 laboratory tests and 4,880 radiology exams enabling life-saving early detection. Our Adolescent and Youth-Friendly Clinic attended to 2,788 young people, addressing mental health, teenage pregnancies, and HIV prevention, while our Physiotherapy Clinic supported 1,181 patients in their rehabilitation journeys. The HIV Comprehensive Care Clinic has been a lifeline for many, with 15 patients receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART), and our Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) program celebrating a significant milestone the birth of an HIV-negative baby to an HIV-positive mother.

Outreach remains at the heart of our mission. In November, our Annual Mega Medical Camp, in partnership with Lions Club Mombasa Pwani and Mabati Rolling Mills, served 1,583 patients and performed 39 cataract surgeries. In December, we collaborated with Buildher, a women-focused empowerment organization, to extend healthcare to 153 patients and their families in Nairobi. These initiatives have strengthened access to healthcare in communities that need it the most.

As we step into 2025, we are more committed than ever to expanding our reach and building on these successes. Thank you for making all this possible through your unwavering generosity. Together, we look forward to creating an even greater impact in the year ahead.

With deep gratitude, we reflect on the life-changing impact that the Mabati Medical Centre has had on the people of Kilifi County, thanks to the unwavering support of the GlobalGiving Community and its donors. Through your support, we have provided essential healthcare services to thousands of individuals, improving their quality of life and offering hope for a brighter future.

In the past four months, we have served 30,489 patients, providing critical medical care that alleviates suffering and restores health. Our diagnostic services have performed an impressive 14,711 tests, including 11,084 lab tests and 3,627 radiology examinations, enabling early detection and timely interventions that save lives.

Our preventative health programs are dedicated to reaching the most vulnerable populations, emphasizing the power of early detection and health education. Through targeted vaccination campaigns, we have safeguarded 107 children from preventable diseases, while our breastfeeding outreach has equipped 533 mothers with essential knowledge, fostering healthier outcomes for families.

We are particularly proud of our youth-focused initiatives, including the Adolescent and Youth-Friendly Clinic established at the Mabati Medical earlier this year, it has attended to 2,115 youth and adolescents so far. The project has provided essential care for mental health, addressed teenage pregnancies, and supported HIV prevention.

Mabati Medical Centre's Physiotherapy Clinic is making strides and has provided essential rehabilitation to 1,181 patients by September 2024.

The HIV clinic plays a crucial role in preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV, with 12 patients currently enrolled in Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) at our Ante-natal care program.

Our partnership initiatives have further amplified our impact. A dedicated consultant gynecologist has come on board to offer specialized care, and through the State Department for Social Security and Protection, we encourage youth to register in self-help groups at our clinic, fostering empowerment and community solidarity.

A compelling testament to our work is the story of a 19-year-old girl from Mariakani, whose education was interrupted by an unexpected pregnancy, plunging her into depression. Through the unwavering support of our staff at the Youth-Friendly Clinic, she received vital counseling, enabling her to return to school. Today, she thrives, skilfully balancing her education and motherhood, embodying resilience and hope.
