Still Progressing and Restoring Hope.

As we still embark on the journey of empowering women in our communities, we are also committed to introducing new ideas to ensure the sustainability of the project.

First and foremost, we are extremely grateful for our friends who decided to walk walk this journey of impacting lives with us. Your continuous support has helped us keep on the truck and see that our goals are achieved. Much we are financially constrained at the moment we have been able to still monitor and nurture our gaots project with the 20 households. This being our fourth year since we launched the project, we have had great and exciting progress alongside challenges. The goats are still increasing in number, and we will be able to distribute more to other families from the newborn kids in July however we lost three baby goats this we was a set back for the project.

As we continue to see the goats multiply, we were able to start sentising the people in the community about the importance of education to the girl child. In rural areas of Uganda, girls drop out of school due to various reasons, one of them being child marriages, teenage pregnancies, and limited finances by the parents. We are using this opportunity to change the narrative of parents in order to encourage their daughters to start dreaming big through education. We partnered with a local school and also distributed scholastic materials to the pupils and students in the community.

Using education as a tool to keep girls in school and reduce child marriage teenage pregnancy through sales made from the goats project will enable us to achieve our goal of empowering young girls in Uganda. Moving forward, we hope to see more young girls given an opportunity to stay in school and also build their self-esteem and confidence to face the challenges in the communities. We have gradually managed to achieve this first, sensitising the parents and the local leaders to ensure systems are put in place to support the girls.

Happy 2025, it's always a joy sharing our progress

First and foremost, we are very excited for 2025 and the gift of life. As we move on this year, we have started to sell the male goats in order to take young girls to school. Education is one of the strongest aspects of life for children in Uganda, most especially young girls. Putting into consideration and knowing very well how girls are lured into child marriages in Kagumba village as a result of no education we started this goats project in 2022 to see that we secure education opportunities for young girls in this village.

The village has one public primary school which is supposed to accommodate all the children in the village. However, most mothers are not able to afford school, which costs only 25 dollars per term. Through the project, we have managed to change the mindset of women by sensitising them about the good of education and how its every child's right to be in school. By the end of 2024, the goats had multiplied to 30 goats, both male and female. We will be selling the four male goats to the local market, and we will be able to enroll three children into school.

Joyce, the project leader, says she is very excited to see one of her children go to school after staying home for over three years with school due to poverty." Joyce is a mother of five children who was abandoned by the husband, and through her, this project was started to see that she provides for her children. Joyce has 4 gaots now, and she believes that she can dream again of a better and brighter future for her children.

Thread of Life Women Empowerment Ministries, believes that with these baby steps, we will be able to create positive change to the people of Uganda and also break the narratives of child marriages, unemploymen, no education and poverty. The women are super excited and eagerly waiting to see their lives transformed. This year, I will be giving out more 10 goats to 10 other women.

As an organization, we are very grateful and honored to have you, our donars, walk a mile with us this year as we impact lives and change the narrative poverty in Uganda in 2025.

We will always be grateful for your kind hearts

Since we last monitored and evaluated, they have been able to increase, something that has brought so much joy to the women and their hpusehd. As we continue to rear these goats, we have deeper conversations on how we can benefit more from the goats projects. Some women were suggesting selling the male goats that are born in order to replace them with the female ones because they reproduce, hence multiplication. However, We lost two young goats this year in September due to drought in the region. Due to much heat, plants dry out, which causes grass to be scarce.

In continuation, according to our sustainable place, we plan to sell our male goats one they increase to 20 goats to ensure we keep the girl child in school in Kagumba village. Kagumba village is one the villages in Uganda where poverty is the order of the day. People survive on substance farming, and those who dont own land survive on digging for others money whi are penuts. One of the biggest reasons that pushed Thread of Life Women's Empowerment Ministries to start the goats was to eradicate poverty and also find ways women can do something that is income generating to keep their children in school. We believe that once the women are empowered through the project, the community will be able to keep their children in schools and also provide for the basic needs of the family.

More to that, the goats project has created more unit and harmony in the community, and all thanks to you, our continuous sponsors of the community. Joyce says, " Before Thread of Life Women, Empowerment Ministries initiated the project, we only met if someone had died, but now we meet to disciss how we can be better as a community." Nabirye says, "My husband only thought my only job was to give birth to children, go dig for food but not any more, the goat i am rearing has given birth twice and I was able to give one of kid goat to another woman for her rear too. My goats are multiplying, and I have a good feeling my children will at least attain their primary school through this."

As Thread of Life Women Empowerment Ministries, we are committed to giving our donors updates and also changing the narrative of poverty in our communities and country at large. We are always grateful and thankful for generousity and kind hearts towords our work and endeavors.
