Day Care Centre activities

Due to the holiday season in Nepal in October and November and many new visitors to the home, the boys have been having a great time this winter.

Some of the boys went to stay with their extended families and those that stayed at the home had a trip to the Tharu village by the Chitwan National Park - saw some wild rhinos and crocodiles, watched a special Tharu dance performance and ate a lot of delicious food. They absolutely loved their trip.

Now they are back at school after a long break but they are not complaining - most of them just love studying. Our oldest boy is finishing his school in February and we are helping him select the best college in Birgunj to attend after that. We are very proud of him and are sure he will achieve a lot in his life. As he is 18 now, he is planning to work part time at the children's home when he starts his college - this will be a great experience for him for 2 years and he will be able to decide then what he really wants to do in the future. At the moment he has a number of ideas so we want to support him with whatever he chooses.

Our Day Care Centre project is going very well too - more and more street children know about it and attend the centre on a daily basis, some even stay over night. Many children living on the streets are still too shy to come and stay with us so our staff spend time with them on the streets every morning. We are also now trying to arrange a school for those children that are ready to attend it. At the moment they are receiving classes at the Day Care Centre. We had a social worker from the Netherlands that stayed for 1 month and helped with improving of the Centre, and did a lot of activities with the children - which they of course loved.

If you'd like to support our children this winter, please donate to this project. Also, if anyone would like to share their skills with the boys and spend some time in Nepal or help us from the comfort of your home, please email us. We are always keen to welcome new volunteers to our team. Happy Holidays to everyone!
