Hostel for the tribal girls in India

We are excited to share the latest updates on our project, Hostel for Tribal Girls in Tripura, India. Your unwavering support continues to make a lasting impact on the lives of young tribal girls by providing them with a safe and nurturing environment to pursue their education.

Since our last update, we have made significant progress in improving the hostel facilities and expanding our outreach. Now 32 girls live in the hostel. They do not have to walk many miles to reach the school. 

Thanks to your support:

• Education and Enrichment: Additional learning resources, including books and educational materials, have been provided to support the girls in their studies. 

• Health and Well-being: Regular health check-ups and nutrition programs have been implemented to ensure the girls receive proper medical care and a balanced diet.

• Community Engagement: Parents and local community members have shown increased participation in the project, fostering a stronger support system for the girls’ education.

Thanks to your generosity, these young girls are not only receiving an education but are also growing into empowered individuals with brighter futures. Many of them are excelling academically and actively participating in extracurricular activities, showcasing their talents and potential.

While we have made great strides, there is still more to be done. We aim to:

• Further enhance the learning facilities with digital resources and tutoring support.

• Expand the hostel capacity to accommodate more girls in need.

This project, aimed at improving the lives of tribal and underprivileged girls in Tripura, has made significant strides in providing these children with access to education and basic amenities. Tripura, a state in northeastern India, has a population of over 3.6 million, with nearly 30% belonging to tribal communities. Despite progress, a significant portion of the population lives below the poverty line, and the literacy rate stands at 63.81%. Many girls, particularly from tribal backgrounds, face immense challenges in attending school due to a lack of resources, transportation, and infrastructure.

The project focuses on addressing these barriers by offering accommodation and facilities to tribal girls, thus enabling them to pursue their education without the limitations of distance and poverty. Through this initiative, we aim to combat illiteracy, alleviate poverty, and uphold the right to education for every child in the community.

What is important, education is not just about academic learning. The project has instilled confidence in these girls and given them a platform to build their lives. They now have the opportunity to break free from the cycle of poverty and chart a better future for themselves.

Through this project, we are raising awareness about the importance of educating girls within the community. This shift in mindset is crucial in changing long-standing social norms that often deprive girls of their right to education. The children are also learning values of love for God, nature, and humanity, helping to foster holistic development.
