Dear Donor,
El Shaddai helps to identify potential of each individual who are struggling to make a livelihood and help them to become an independent person. We provide them with various vocational training to give them a better world and transform their lives. There are 3 main centres where we provide vocational training to the community people especially women to uplift their living standard and to give them a livelihood. In this centres, we are helping the women with the tailoring course, computer training, Mehendi, etc. Since last 6 months we have enrolled around 200 ladies in our vocational training and the duration of each course is for 6 months. We teach them different types of designs according to the current trend and fashion.
Through this vocational course many ladies got benefited many of them have started to stitch clothes for themselves and their family members.
At present many of them have become a perfect tailor and earning from home by taking orders and stitching at home. This earning has a great impact on their livelihood; they are now able to pay for their children’s school fees and are able to be great helping hand to the family. Few of our ladies have started working in many cloth factories and on the other side even widows and single mothers got a great opportunity to learn and make a better survival.
Let me take you through the life journey of Azeema (name changed) who has gained success after a lot of struggle and hardship.
Azeema is staying in a small rented house at chimbel slum area. This family is originally from Karnataka. She studied till 10th std but had to drop out of school because of the family conditions. She wanted to do something for her family but due to financial problems she couldn’t complete her studies. Her husband was the sole earner of the family and works as a daily wage labour and earns very little as his job is not stable. It was very difficult to survive with his wages to manage the basic needs of the family.
During our fieldwork, we met Azeema talked to her and gave her the basic information about our charity and told her about our vocational courses we offer free of cost to empower women. she was excited to do but her husband and family were not ready to allow her to pursue the same and then we spoke with her family members and after a lot of convincing and encouragement she joined the tailoring, macramé, crochet, beautician course in 2021 and completed the courses in a span of 6 months. In this class she learnt to stitch baby clothes, Zabla, chudidar, blouses, Skirt, School uniforms etc. Now she takes orders from wedding, events, some function at home only. She has learnt to stand on her own feet over a period of time. She is helping her family financially and is able to provide for the education of her children. She is very happy that our centre gave her the opportunity to learn tailoring course which has transformed her life completely.
With gratitude,
El Shaddai Charitable Trust
